Job Description:

The Western Dairyland Head Start program is hiring a Full-Time 36 hour per week Head Start Family Advocate to work at our Independence Head Start location. 

Head Start promotes school readiness of children under the age of five from income-eligible families by supporting their growth and development in a positive learning environment through comprehensive services, which include early learning, health, and family well-being.  We're a mission-driven organization making a positive impact in our community since 1966.

Summary of job responsibilities:  Conduct home visits with families. Work with Head Start families to build strong and effective partnerships that can help support family well-being and promote children’s learning and development. Assist families in accessing community resources that are responsive to family needs goals.

Candidates must be bi-lingual Spanish/English speaking.  The ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Development & Family Studies, or a related field. Experience working with families is a plus.  

This is a full year position working 36 hours per week, Monday through Thursday.  The starting wage is $19.20-$22 per hour depending on qualifications.

  • Sick leave accrued at 3.3230 hours per pay period
    • approximately 7 hours sick leave per month for full time employees
    • maximum accrued sick leave of 432 hours

401(k) plan with up to a 6% match 

Employees can contribute immediately. After 1 year of employment, the agency will contribute between 3 and 6 percent, dependent on the employee's contribution.
