About Us
Since 1966, the Western Dairyland Head Start program has been preparing young children ages three to five to succeed in school and beyond in Buffalo, Eau Claire, Jackson, and Trempealeau counties. The Early Head Start program for infants, toddlers, and pregnant women was added in September 2015. Head Start and Early Head Start programs promote children's development through services that support early learning, health, and family well-being. Learn more about Head Start.

During the early childhood years social emotional, physical, and academic growth happens at a tremendous rate. Head Start programs help support children's growth and development in all of these areas as well as providing supports and resources to the whole family. As a new school year kicks off, help your child and family succeed by ensuring regular and consistent attendance. Did you know that missing just 2 Head Start center days or 2 out of 5 home visits is considered chronically absent? Make a plan early to address any attendance obstacles that may appear and set your child and family on a path toward healthy social emotional, physical and academic growth.
