About Us

Since 1966, the Western Dairyland Head Start program has been preparing young children ages three to five to succeed in school and beyond in Buffalo, Eau Claire, Jackson, and Trempealeau counties. The Early Head Start program for infants, toddlers, and pregnant women was added in September 2015. Head Start and Early Head Start programs promote children's development through services that support early learning, health, and family well-being. Learn more about Head Start.

With the school year winding down or ended, you are probably not thinking about next school year, but we are! We are taking applications, completing eligibility determination intakes and accepting children to our programs for next year now! If you have a child that is or will be 3yrs old, we have full day center based programs in Buffalo, Eau Claire, Jackson and Trempealeau Counties and we are filling spots at those sites now. If you are pregnant or have a child under age 3, we have Home Based programs available in each of those counties as well as a full day center based program in Independence.
